Our Story: Franklin County has a problem with lost and abandoned animals dogs and cats. A group of concerned citizens saw the need for an animal shelter that could serve the entire county and PAWS was born.

Our Mission: To provide shelter and homes to  pets in need, while connecting our community with   resources that enhance relationships between people and their pets.

Because Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS)!

PAWS recently purchased the former “Mt. Vernon Veterinary Clinic” for the new home of their new shelter and Pet Resource Center. “Over the past few months, the board of PAWS has been hard at work building an operational structure and plans that will provide the organization with a solid foundation, mission clarity, and future sustainability” said Jan Switzer, President of the organization.

We are now focused on raising the money needed to renovate and operate the facility. The goal is to have the facility renovated, outfitted, hire a trained mission-focused staff, and have sufficient funding to operate in the beginning 2024.

You can invest in the future of Franklin County’s pets by donating to our New Shelter Campaign, we can’t do it without your contribution!
